As Kingfishers Catch Fire (5x7)
A kingfisher chases a dragonfly, inspired by an 1897 wallpaper design by the French Art Nouveau artist Maurice Pillard Verneuil. The title comes from Gerard Manley Hopkins’ poem “As Kingfishers Catch Fire, Dragonflies Draw Flame.”
Carved by hand with a chip-carving knife and finished with shellac. The frame is also hand-carved before finishing with milk paint and walnut oil. Measures 5×7 inches (roughly 6×8 framed).
Note: I can carve most designs again, so if the item you want is sold out, please get in touch!
