Framed Relief Carvings
The work below is a sample of what I’ve completed in 2024 and ‘25. All carvings are executed in basswood with chip-carving knives and finished with shellac. Frames for single carvings are similarly chip-carved, then finished with milk paint and oil and/or beeswax. Frames for polyptychs are hand-made with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery and variously finished.
The clock has an 8-inch square face with a simple dark brown frame that hides has an American made mini quartz movement.
