Carved-edge milking stool

A traditional three-legged stool with octagonal legs (drawn from the tradition of Welsh “stick chairs”) and a seat edge carved with a drawknife. Two layers of differently colored milk paint highlight the texture: shown here are black over red and bayberry green over red. I have also finished solid white oak stools with linseed oil, garnet shellac and black wax, which gives a lovely antique effect.
