Custom work

Engraving from the June 26, 1869 London Illustrated News (h/t). Sadly, I cannot crank out custom work as fast as these guys. For one thing, there are only 1/14 as many of me.

Woodenware

I sell only a few items directly online, but I usually have some stock of nearly everything I make. If you’re looking for something you’ve seen at a market and don’t see it here, feel free to email me.

Stools, benches, and chairs

I’m glad to make carved-edge stools, arched-bevel benches, armchairs or side chairs on request. It’s best to email me to discuss style, size, colors, woods, and pricing.

Other ideas

Feel free to email me about other custom work. Keep in mind the kinds of work I’ve already done, but I’m always interested in new challenges. Two things you should be aware of:

  1. I have a very small shop and almost no room to store lumber, so for now, custom projects are typically limited to the size of a coffee table or nightstand. (Or two nightstands, built one at a time.)

  2. It takes time to design and build a piece of furniture, and time is valuable. (Consider your plumber’s hourly rate.) Also, if you are not a woodworker, you may be shocked at how expensive wood is these days. Fine furniture, made by any small studio or individual maker, is not cheap. I make an effort to keep my prices reasonable, but most furniture is unreasonably cheap.

Thanks for your interest!
